In the India tour of Sri Lanka, the hosts beat the visitors by seven wickets in the final T20I of the bilateral series to seal the three-match series. The results of the series win will see the Sri Lankan cricket team get awarded with prize money of USD 1,00,000.
India won the first T20I match by 38 runs and the rest two were won by Sri Lanka by four and seven wickets respectively, eventually pulling off an upset against team India.
The Sri Lankan cricket board also said, “The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket lauded the effort of the players, coaches, and the support staff for bringing this much-needed victory, which it believes will augur well for the National team going forward. Hence, in order to recognize this victory, the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket decided to award a sum of US$ 100,000 for the National team.”
It is a great win for Sri Lanka against India, however, India was playing with their B-team but still, the series will prove to be good practice ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup which is being held in the UAE and Oman. The marquee international T20 competition commences from October 17, 2021.
Sri Lanka gave a tough fight to India on the field and won their first-ever T20I series against the men in blue.
The visiting Indian team beat Sri Lanka in the ODI series 2-1, the hosts bounced back and beat the visitors in the shortest format.
