Sporting Lisbon may switch to Nike as kit sponsor

Sporting Lisbon could reportedly drop Macron as the kit sponsor and sign a deal with Nike at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

The Portuguese club had signed a deal with Macron in 2014 after ending the association with Puma. Macron’s deal is set to expire in 2021, opening the pathway for a new kit manufacturer to come in with a better deal. According to Ojogo (Portuguese News Outlet), Nike is likely to be the next sponsor in line for Lisbon based club.

Sporting Lisbon is one of the most historic clubs in Portugal. They have also enjoyed a lot of success in the Portuguese league. Despite Benfica and Porto achieving more success in this century, Sporting Lisbon remains a hub for some of the most talented Portuguese players.

A partnership with Nike may allow Sporting Lisbon to collaborate and come up with merchandise that will be a tribute act for Cristiano Ronaldo. The 35-year-old forward has been one of the best players in football during the last 15 years. He got his first breakthrough at Sporting Lisbon way back in the early 2000s.

It is a fantastic opportunity for Nike to come up with merchandise that will impress Sporting Lisbon and Ronaldo fans. There has been no official comment about this deal, but further details are likely to emerge when the end of the 2020/21 season is near.
