The global sports marketing agency, SPORTFIVE, has expanded its commercial footprint in Spanish football after securing a multi-season agreement with Villarreal CF to exclusively manage the club’s LED perimeter and virtual advertising inventory, reinforcing the growing role of broadcast technology in driving sponsorship revenues.
The agreement appoints SPORTFIVE as Villarreal’s exclusive partner for the production, commercialisation and strategic management of LED and Virtual Advertising (VA) assets across all home fixtures in LALIGA and the Copa del Rey. Through the collaboration, the agency will leverage its global sales network and technology capabilities to maximise the value of the club’s matchday advertising inventory while creating targeted opportunities for international and regional brand partners.
As part of the deal, SPORTFIVE will provide an end-to-end commercial solution encompassing inventory sales, pricing strategy, technical implementation, broadcast monitoring and performance reporting. The agency will also utilise data-driven demand forecasting and market-specific inventory packaging to optimise sponsorship yield and strengthen the club’s ability to attract new commercial partners.
A key feature of the partnership is the deployment of virtual advertising technology, which enables different sponsorship messages to be displayed to television audiences in different territories during the same live broadcast. The technology allows rights holders to regionalise advertising inventory, unlocking multiple revenue streams from a single asset while protecting the exclusivity of domestic sponsorship agreements and enhancing the relevance of brand messaging across international markets.
Sergi Vieta, Managing Director – Sales at SPORTFIVE, said, “This partnership with Villarreal CF is a strong addition to our international portfolio and reflects our focus on driving sustainable commercial growth for rights holders. By combining our global sales capabilities, data-driven pricing and advanced virtual and LED solutions, we are well-positioned to maximise the value of the club’s inventory and deliver high-quality, targeted opportunities for brand partners worldwide.”
Juan Antón de Salas, Commercial Director at Villarreal CF, added, “Partnering with SPORTFIVE allows us to further enhance our commercial strategy and unlock the full value of our media and advertising assets. Their global reach, market expertise, and innovative approach to virtual and LED advertising will enable us to attract new partners, grow internationally and deliver greater value across our sponsorship ecosystem.”
The agreement reflects a broader trend across elite football, with clubs increasingly investing in advanced advertising technologies to monetise global broadcast audiences more effectively. As virtual advertising continues to reshape sponsorship activation, partnerships of this nature are becoming central to the commercial strategies of rights holders seeking sustainable revenue growth beyond traditional stadium branding.
