Sport 24 acquires media rights to Beijing 2022 and Paris 2024 Olympics

Sport 24 will deliver the exclusive live coverage of the iconic tournaments to the airline and cruise line agencies.

IMG’s media network, Sport 24 has teamed up with the International Olympic Committee to acquire the broadcasting rights of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 and Paris Olympics 2024. The Winter Games have commenced on February 4 and will culminate on February 20.

Through this collaboration, Sport 24 will deliver the exclusive live coverage of the iconic tournaments to the airline and cruise line agencies. Broadcasted via satellite, the media unit will provide over 300 hours of thrilling live action to the mobile passengers. In addition to this, the flight and ship carrying sports enthusiasts can also catch daily highlights of the sensational global competitions through IMG’s developed show.

On this acquisition, Anne-Sophie Voumard, VP, Broadcast & Media Rights, International Olympic Committee, said, “We are pleased to be extending our partnership with IMG, who through Sport 24 will continue to allow Olympic fans from around the world the opportunity to follow the Beijing 2022 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games whilst travelling.”

Richard Wise, SVP, Content and Channels, IMG’s media business, also commented on this deal and said: “The Olympic Games remain an iconic event on the sporting calendar with more than 200 nations participating. Beijing 2022 will be the sixth Olympic Games we have shown on Sport 24 since launching in 2012 and we will be providing passengers with the best of the action live across all 17 days, starting with the opening ceremony on 4 February.”

Sport 24 also broadcasts other prominent tournaments such as Premier LeagueUEFA Champions League and Europa LeagueNBA and tennis Grand Slams. Recently, the firm also extended its media rights partnership with Tennis Australia and provided its customers with the exciting coverage of the Australian Open 2022.

Other than Sport 24, the ongoing Winter Olympics 2022 is covered by some notable networks such as Peacock and NBCUniversalfuboTV also bagged access to broadcast the tournament.
