Spire Healthcare has expanded its investment in elite sport after being named the exclusive official healthcare services partner of Team GB, signing a long-term agreement that will run through the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The partnership brings together one of the UK’s leading independent healthcare providers with the British Olympic Association (BOA), combining Team GB’s national sporting platform with Spire Healthcare’s clinical expertise to promote healthier lifestyles while supporting British athletes on the road to LA28.
Under the agreement, Spire Healthcare will work alongside Team GB on a nationwide programme of health and wellbeing initiatives aimed at encouraging greater public participation in physical activity and improving awareness around injury prevention, rehabilitation and recovery. The activation strategy will include television, digital and social media campaigns, live events, athlete-led content and patient recovery stories, while also providing exclusive engagement opportunities for the company’s employees and consultants.
The partnership forms part of Spire Healthcare’s wider brand strategy to strengthen its national profile by aligning with one of Britain’s most recognisable sporting organisations. The healthcare provider operates a network of 38 hospitals and more than 60 clinics across the UK, working with over 8,800 consultants and caring for more than 1.36 million patients each year.
Peter Corfield, Chief Commercial Officer, Spire Healthcare, said, “We are incredibly proud to partner with Team GB, an organisation that embodies excellence, resilience and pride. Our shared agenda is clear – to play our part in making a healthier, more productive nation. We look forward to teaming up with Team GB athletes to support and inspire people to be active for healthier lives and faster recovery.”
Tim Ellerton, Chief Commercial Officer, Team GB, added, “Spire Healthcare is a natural partner for Team GB, with a shared commitment to inspiring people to live healthier, happier lives. Ahead of what promises to be a landmark Olympic Games in Los Angeles, our ambition is that this partnership will not only support our athletes on the road to the Games, but also help inspire people across the UK to prioritise their own health and wellbeing.”
The agreement further strengthens Team GB’s commercial portfolio ahead of LA28 as the organisation continues to secure long-term partners across key categories. Commercial revenue remains fundamental to Team GB’s operations, with the BOA receiving no annual government or National Lottery funding for the participation of the British Olympic team at the Games. Against that backdrop, partnerships such as Spire Healthcare play a significant role in funding athlete preparation while extending Team GB’s impact beyond elite competition through community-focused health and wellbeing initiatives.
