Spanish striker Alvaro Vasquez joins Kerala Blasters

Alvaro Vasquez has played in La Liga and Premier League.

Indian Super League team Kerala Blasters FC have roped in Spanish striker Alvaro Vasquez for the upcoming ISL season. Alvaro Vasquez joins Kerala Blasters from the Spanish club Sporting de Gijon. He has signed a one year contract and will be associated with the Indian team till 31st May next year.

Vasquez is a highly experienced contender having played over 150 games in La Liga (Spain’s top-flight football), as well as the Premier League. Moreover, Vasquez was also involved with the Spanish national team during the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2011 wherein he scored five goals in the tournament.

This is a new stage of my career and I am looking forward to embracing the football and culture of India something which I have heard a lot about. I will do my best both on and off the field for the team,” said Alvaro Vazquez.

” I’m happy that a high-level player as Alvaro is joining us. We are excited about him being a part of our family and hope that along with his quality, he will also bring high energy, leadership and fulfill his potential here,” said the sporting director of Kerala Blasters, Karolis Skinkys.

The 30-year-old started his professional football journey with RCD Espanyol. He made his first senior team appearance with the club as well as his La Liga debut. He then joined Getafe FC in 2012 and had his taste of Premier League football while on a loan at Swansea City. He recently had signed a three-year contract with Sporting de Gijon in 2019.
