South Africa tour of India 3rd T20I: Match preview and head-to-head

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, the hosts have a narrow advantage.

In the South Africa tour of India, the third T20I of the five-match bilateral series will take place at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, June 14 at 7 PM IST. The Proteas are currently leading the series 2-0.

Things have become difficult for the hosts as they have lost the second consecutive game of the series. After failing to defend the total in yet another outing, some major changes await in the team’s bowling unit. The batting department has fared well with the likes of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer contributing consistently. Yet another call by Rishabh Pant was questioned when Axar Patel was sent ahead of the in-form Dinesh Karthik. The young Indian skipper will have to pull out some new trick to win the third T20I and stay alive in the bilateral series.

On the other hand, the Proteas are having an excellent run on Indian soil so far. The middle-order batsmen have stood out once again to cruise their team over the finish line. The tourists found a new hero in the form of Henrich Klassen, who single-handedly chased down the competitive total on a tricky pitch in the second match. With the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Wayne Parnell firing on all cylinders, the experienced duo could trouble the Indian batsmen in Visakhapatnam, where the pitch reasonably favours the bowlers.

Head-to-head:
In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, the hosts have a narrow advantage. The two teams collided on 17 occasions, the home team won nine games while the tourists emerged victorious on eight instances.

In the previous outing, which took place on Sunday, the tourists won the game by four wickets.
