Australian Open 2022 witnessed extraordinary tennis action and some historical player records getting shattered.
The notable achievements include the winning of Ashleigh Barty to become the first Australian in 44 years to bag a Grand Slam title at home and the 21st singles title victory of Rafael Nadal over Daniil Medvedev. One of the all-time greats to ever play tennis, beat the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to become the player with the most number of Grand Slam singles titles ever.
These events attained a lot of attention from the tennis enthusiasts of India due to which the recently concluded season of the Australian Open became the most-watched Grand Slam in India with around 22 million viewers.
In addition to this, the heart-throbbing men’s singles final that lasted for six hours was the most viewed Grand Slam final in the history of the network. Almost 5 million people watched the live-action.
It was also observed that the prime audience and viewership that arose for the exciting tournament came from the tennis passionate markets of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
