The sports broadcast entity, Sony Sports Network has acquired the rights to broadcast the World Tennis League (WTL) in India.

The newly unveiled pact covers exclusive television and digital rights to the Indian subcontinent, including India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Maldives. The tournament sees Rob Koeing and Sania Mirza as commentators.

The ongoing edition of the WTL, a mixed-gender league, is being conducted at the Etihad Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, and Kites are the teams competing in the tournament.

The current roster of players includes prominent names from the tennis fraternity – Sumit Nagal, Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Hubert Hurkacz, Mirra Andreeva, Jasmine Paolini, Elena Rybakina, and Caroline Garcia.

The teams will participate in a round-robin format. Every tie will feature four sets: one men’s singles match, one women’s singles match, and two doubles sets, which may also consist of men’s doubles, women’s doubles, or mixed doubles, depending on the team that wins the coin toss.

After the completion of the round-robin phase, the top two sides will square off in the final on December 22, 2024. Sony Sports Ten 1 SD and HD will provide the live telecast of WTL while SonyLIV will offer live streaming of the game.

Earlier this year, Sony Sports Network acquired broadcast deals with the Hockey India League (HIL) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
