Extreme H, the world’s first hydrogen-powered off-road racing series, has announced a significant broadcast partnership with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN).
This agreement has brought the pioneering motorsport to millions of viewers across the Indian subcontinent, with SPN designated as the official television and digital broadcast partner for the upcoming FIA Extreme H World Cup.
Under the terms of the deal, Sony Sports Network will provide live English-language coverage of all FIA Extreme H World Cup races, alongside dedicated highlights programming. The partnership also extends to digital platforms, with SonyLIV offering comprehensive streaming access to the series for audiences throughout India and its neighbouring territories.
This collaboration marks a strategic expansion of SPN’s established relationship with Extreme E, the successful predecessor series to Extreme H. SPN previously held a four-year broadcast agreement with Extreme E, which concluded its final season in 2024. The renewed commitment underscores SPN’s continued belief in the transformative potential of electric and hydrogen-powered motorsport.
Ali Russell, Managing Director at the FIA Extreme H World Cup, expressed his enthusiasm for the renewed partnership and said, “We are proud to partner once again with Sony Pictures Networks India, a trusted and innovative broadcast leader who we’ve had a much-valued relationship with since the very start of Extreme E Season 1.
“India is a crucial market for our global ambitions, and this collaboration allows us to share our message and technology with millions of new viewers while inspiring a new generation of future-focused motorsport fans.”
Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer, Distribution and International Business and Head of Sports Business at Sony Pictures Networks India, added, “We are excited to partner with Extreme H, a series that not only delivers thrilling racing action but also carries a powerful message of sustainability and innovation. Hydrogen mobility is a frontier technology, and we’re proud to bring this pioneering motorsport to audiences across the Indian subcontinent.”
Sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the FIA Extreme H World Cup is set to commence later in 2025. The series will feature world-class drivers competing in state-of-the-art hydrogen-powered vehicles across challenging off-road terrains globally. Extreme H maintains a strong commitment to gender parity, with teams fielding an equal number of male and female drivers.
