SL Benfica of the Primeira Liga and Genius Sports struck their very first tracking data and broadcasting enhancement collaboration in Portuguese football.
Genius Sports will provide the team with innovative tracking technology through its Second Spectrum department, which will use machine learning and AI to acquire statistical data. New information elements, such as projected goals, pressing measures, and player and shot velocity, will be available to the Portuguese club’s fans, coaches, players, and partners.
Through prior relationships with the Premier League (PL), Major League Soccer (MLS), Danish Superliga and Club Necaxa, Genius Sports is already well-established in football, both domestically and globally.
Benfica Head of Performance Analysis Nuno Maricio, said the following, “It is with great pleasure that we can now rely on the data and reports provided by Genius Sports.
