SL Benfica extends partnership with EA Sports

Renewal is coming just in time before the release of FIFA 22 in September is good news for the Portuguese club’s fans, who are into FIFA gaming.

The 37-time Portuguese league champions, SL Benfica have announced the renewal of their existing partnership with digital sports entertainment leader Electronic Arts Sports (EA Sports). This renewal has elongated the commercial relations between both the parties concerned. 

In association with the renewal agreement, more emphasis will be put on EA Sports FIFA, which is one of the world’s most successful video game franchises. Renewal is coming just in time before the release of FIFA 22 in September is good news for the Portuguese club’s fans, who are into FIFA gaming.

After the announcement of the renewal, Domingos Soares de Oliveira, CEO of SL Benfica, took time out to brief the media and added, “It is natural that two companies committed to innovation and technology for the development of their activities stay together. This renewal demonstrates the belief in Benfica’s brand value by global partners who are leaders in their sectors. Several initiatives will be developed soon to enhance the Benfica brand within the scope of one of the most successful games in the world.”

The extension of partnership will now allow EA Sports to showcase Benfica, also known as ‘The Eagles’ as realistically as possible in all the different modes of their upcoming FIFA 22. This includes Kick-Off, Ultimate Team, Career Mode or VOLTA Football mode. The aforementioned deal will feature authentic jerseys, rosters, players likeness and most importantly Benfica’s home ground, Estádio da Luz. These kinds of partnerships also offer full team scans but no official confirmation on this has been made yet.

David Jackson, VP of Brand, EA SPORTS FIFA also shared his thoughts on the extension and said, “We’re thrilled to be extending our partnership with Benfica, reinforcing our commitment to offer the highest quality of authentic experiences to football fans across the globe. We look forward to sharing further ways we’ll enhance FIFA experiences for Benfica fans, and will continue to engage their global following as we grow the love of football.”

Through this deal, Benfica will also be able to broaden its horizon on the E-Sports scene with the competitive FIFA Global Series season lined up.
