The Italian top-flight football league, Serie A has inked an exclusive multi-year agreement with the NFT marketplace, Sorare.
Following this deal, fans of the competition across the globe will be able to own and trade digital cards from Italy’s elite football competition. The digital collectibles will be accessible on the NFT platform from the 2022-23 season.
Sorare was founded in 2018 and has gathered over two million users across the globe. The new-age entity brings digital collectibles together with fantasy sports.
With this development, Serie A becomes the latest addition to Sorare’s decorated portfolio. The likes of LaLiga, Bundesliga, AS Saint-Étienne, AS Monaco, Elche, and Major League Soccer (MLS) have teamed up with Sorare.
Earlier this year in May, Major League Baseball (MLB) also signed an association with Sorare.
In one of the recent developments, Sorare got onboard Serena Williams as a board advisor and the French football player Kylian Mbappe as an ambassador.
This association will allow Serie A to engage with the fans extensively worldwide along with an opportunity of generating revenue through NFT licensing.
