The Australian hybrid-funded public service broadcaster, Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) has inked broadcasting rights for the sport-for-purpose electric racing series, Extreme E, in Australia.
With this exhilarating partnership, an extensive Australian audience will be able to watch Extreme E’s adrenaline-pumping races on digital and free-to-air platforms.
One of Australia’s main national broadcasters, SBS, will carry the Extreme E X Prix in 2024, guaranteeing broad exposure and reach for motorsport enthusiasts throughout the country.
Moreover, viewers can watch all the major events, highlights, and special Extreme E racing programming on SBS. Extreme E will also be accessible on SBS On Demand alongside the linear broadcasts.
In its fourth season, Extreme E is a groundbreaking motorsport series that encourages sustainable behaviours and increases public awareness of climate change. Extreme E pushes the limits of sustainable vehicle technology while highlighting the effects of the climate emergency through the display of electric SUVs in harsh conditions.
On the partnership, Ali Russell, Managing Director of Extreme E, said, “We are excited to announce our partnership with SBS, a leader in delivering diverse and high-quality content to Australian audiences. This new collaboration is crucial for our reach and engagement in Australia, and we hope that our dedicated fanbase across the country enjoys our action-packed motorsport series.”
Also speaking on the topic, Ken Shipp, SBS Director of Sport, said, “As Australia’s most globally-connected national broadcaster with a longstanding and proud support of Australian motorsports, SBS is the perfect network to broadcast this thrilling, purpose-driven event to Australian audiences and we’re proud to bring Extreme E to SBS and SBS on Demand throughout the 2024 season.”
