Sam Curran creates history; becomes most expensive buy in history of IPL Auction

The English cricketer, Sam Curran becomes the most expensive buy in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.

The 24-year-old was signed by Trevor Bayliss’ Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 18.5 crore (£1.85 million approx).

During the auction, a six-way bidding war between Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), PBKS and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had begun to claim the most anticipated player of the IPL 2023 mini auctions.

The left-arm bowling allrounder will link up with Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow in IPL 2023. Curran also played for PBKS earlier in the 2019 edition.
