Ruben Dias signs a new contract with Manchester City

Ruben Dias won the FWA Player of the Year award last season.

Portuguese international Ruben Dias has extended his contract with the Premier League team Manchester City. He joined the Cityzens last season from Benfica for a fee of $62 million, Ruben Dias has already become an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s team. His new contract enables him to stay at the Etihad till 2027.

He won the Premier League with Manchester City last season and was one of their star players. His impressive defensive performances enabled him to win the FWA (Football Writer’s Association) Player of the Year Award last season. Moreover, he reached the UEFA Champions League final as well.

I’m very happy to sign the new deal. I have enjoyed every single minute of my time at City since joining last year,” Ruben Dias said. “Playing for City has surpassed all my expectations and it’s an absolute pleasure to be part of such an incredible squad.

I would also like to thank Pep and the coaching staff for the way they have helped me to develop as a player and keep pushing me to improve.

“To be part of the squad that achieved so much last season was incredible and made us all hungry to achieve even more. Now I just want to try and play my part in helping us be successful this season and beyond.”

Manchester City thrashed Arsenal 5-0 in their last Premier League outing at the Etihad stadium. Gabriel Jesus, Rodri, Ferran Torres and Ilkay Gundogan all got on the scoresheet.
