RTÉ, Virgin Media grab UEFA Nations League broadcast rights

From 2022 through 2025, Virgin Media has obtained multi-platform access to the UEFA Nations League and its finals.

All six of the Republic of Ireland‘s UEFA Nations League games would be covered by RTÉ (in Ireland) and Virgin Media (in the United Kingdom) in 2022.

From 2022 through 2025, Virgin Media has obtained multi-platform access to the UEFA Nations League and its finals, as well as UEFA European Qualifiers for UEFA EURO 2024 and European Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ireland’s fixtures in the European Qualifiers for UEFA Euro 2024 which will take place in 2023 as well as its fixtures in the UEFA Nations League, will be covered on RTÉ.

RTÉ, Ireland’s free public television broadcaster, will air all six Republic of Ireland’s UEFA Nations League matches in Ireland. The Republic of Ireland’s season starts on the road against Armenia on June 4, followed by a home match against Ukraine on June 8 at the Aviva Stadium.

RTÉ Group Head of Sport, Declan McBennett, stated, “RTÉ Sport is delighted to bring the UEFA Nations League games to the audience free to air given the growing momentum behind the Men’s international team and the significance of the games with Scotland, Armenia and in particular Ukraine.

“Combined with our coverage of the Women’s national team, the Under 21’s qualification campaign and the domestic game it visibly demonstrates our commitment to keeping key sporting moments available to the widest possible audience.”

Virgin Media will also air matches from the competition in the United Kingdom. Contests from France, Germany, England, Spain, Belgium, and Italy will be presented, as well as highlights compilations from Republic of Ireland matches.

“The Nations League has been a really successful concept and we are really looking forward to bringing our viewers all the games live from the tournament this June and for the next four years. We will also broadcast the Final of the tournament.

“Virgin Media will also be the home of the major European Qualifiers to UEFA EURO 2024 and European Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”
