The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a landmark multi-year partnership with Remitly, a leading digital financial services provider.
This collaboration is set to significantly advance the ECB’s commitment to creating a more inclusive cricketing landscape, while simultaneously celebrating the deep cultural connections the sport holds for diverse communities across the UK.
A cornerstone of this innovative partnership is the direct support for the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA). Established in 2020 by Co-Founder and Managing Director Tom Brown, SACA was founded to address the historical under-representation of British South Asians in professional cricket. Remitly’s investment will be transformative for SACA, enabling it to provide free training and playing opportunities for South Asian cricketers aged 18 and older. Furthermore, it will facilitate the expansion of SACA with four new hubs nationwide, offering promising young cricketers regular, high-quality training and creating invaluable opportunities for these aspiring athletes to compete against county second XIs. This strategic support will directly contribute to nurturing talent and opening pathways for a more diverse pool of cricketers to reach the professional ranks.
Both the ECB and Remitly emphasize that this partnership extends far beyond a typical sponsorship.
Rina Hahn, CMO at Remitly, said, “This partnership goes far beyond visibility, it’s about showing up in spaces that truly matter to our customers. Cricket unites communities, crosses borders, and brings generations together. Just like our customers, it carries history, identity, and aspiration. We’re honoured to play a role in building a more inclusive game and a more connected world.”
Alex Perkins, Commercial Director at the ECB, added, “The ECB is proud to partner with Remitly in our efforts to grow the game in an inclusive and equitable way. Together, we are investing in programmes and pathways that ensure cricket is truly a game for everyone.”
Tom Brown, Co-Founder and Managing Director of SACA concluded, “Support from partners like Remitly helps turn potential into progress. It’s about making sure that young people from all backgrounds can see a future for themselves in cricket – and seize it.”
Beyond its vital contribution to SACA, the collaboration will also provide valuable support for England’s Men’s, Women’s, and Disability teams. This demonstrates a holistic commitment to all facets of English cricket, reinforcing the shared vision of the ECB and Remitly to champion diversity, foster cultural connections, and ensure that cricket continues to thrive as a sport for all.
