Reckitt, a goods manufacturer and retailer from the UK, has been announced as an official partner of the upcoming Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Dettol and Durex, two of the company’s products, have been named the tournament’s official hygiene partner and intimate wellness supplier, respectively.
Throughout the competition, which will take place across 15 sites in Birmingham, Coventry, Royal Leamington Spa, Sandwell and London, between July 28 and August 8, both companies will provide their entire product lines to both fans and participants.
On this association, Katie Sadleir, Chief Executive at the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) said, “We are proud to welcome Reckitt to the team. As the official hygiene partner, Dettol’s industry-leading knowledge and expertise will help us deliver a successful and safe competition for athletes, officials and fans.”
Ian Reid, Birmingham 2022’s Chief Executive, said, “It’s more important than ever before to ensure that Birmingham 2022 has all the necessary measures in place to help protect all participants and supporters. This new partnership with Reckitt will give us added reassurance as we look ahead to the Games in a few months’ time.”
Reckitt and Dettol Pro Solutions will give hygiene protocol guidelines to the multi-sporting event’s athletes, spectators, and officials as part of its science-led campaign.
The offering of Dettol Pro Solutions utilises science-backed measures to improve hygiene standards and aid in preventing the transmission of germs and viruses. The team has already executed cleanliness programmes for the UK industry giants such as British Airways, Avis Budget Group, and Hilton Hotels, among others.
Furthermore, in this collaboration, Durex will provide 100,000 Durex condoms and educational materials in Athletes’ Villages and medical facilities throughout the Games.
