The veteran Indian cricketer, Ravichandran Ashwin has rejoined the India Cements group, marking a new direction in his career.
He will take on a key role with Superking Ventures, a subsidiary of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) dedicated to developing young cricketers.
This homecoming brings Ashwin back to India Cements, where he played until 2015. His extensive experience and cricketing knowledge will be invaluable in mentoring future stars at the CSK High-Performance Center being built on the outskirts of Chennai. The centre is on track to open before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
Reflecting on his return, Ashwin expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to the cricketing community, “Growing the game and contributing to the cricketing fraternity is my primary focus. I feel elated to be back to where it all began for me.”
KS Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings Ltd, shared his excitement about Ashwin’s return. “We are excited to have Ashwin back. He will have a huge role to play at Superkings Ventures and our High-Performance Centre. “He is one of the best cricketers from Tamil Nadu and is known for his drive towards excellence. His commitment to the game at any level, be it for India, Tamil Nadu, or even the club, is well known. He will be a great person to guide the centre and nurture the young talents coming through.”
While an official return to the playing field for CSK hasn’t been announced, seeing Ashwin back in the iconic yellow jersey at the upcoming IPL mega auction in 2025 remains a possibility. Ashwin is also now eligible to play for the India Cements teams in the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) first division, which starts tomorrow i.e. June 6.
This renewed partnership between Ashwin and India Cements signifies a commitment to fostering future cricketing talent and paves the way for an exciting new chapter in Ashwin’s cricketing career.
