Range Rover takes the wheel as official vehicle partner of the Wimbledon

A fleet of Range Rover vehicles will transport players, their teams, and tournament officials throughout the two-week event.

The luxury brand of Land Rover, Range Rover has secured the prestigious title of the official vehicle partner for The Championships, Wimbledon, for 2024 and beyond.

This new partnership marks a continuation of Wimbledon’s longstanding association with the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) group, previously held by Jaguar for over a decade.

A fleet of Range Rover vehicles, including the brand’s cutting-edge plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV) models, will transport players, their teams, and tournament officials throughout the two-week event. This aligns perfectly with the All England Lawn Tennis Club‘s (AELTC) commitment to environmental responsibility.

The AELTC is taking a commendable step further by providing dedicated charging stations powered entirely by renewable electricity to support the PHEV fleet. This not only reduces environmental impact but ensures a near-silent presence during the tournament, preserving the tranquillity of the famed grass courts.

Geraldine Ingham, Range Rover Managing Director, said, “As an iconic British cultural event watched by millions across the world, The Championships provides the ideal opportunity for Range Rover to engage with our global clients with creative storytelling, that perfectly captures the elegance and refinement of our vehicles and the synergies between our two modern luxury brands.”

Deborah Jevans CBE, Chair of the All England Club, which stages The Championships, said, “We are delighted to be continuing our long-standing partnership with JLR with the announcement of Range Rover as Official Vehicle Partner. I am particularly pleased with the inclusion of a significant number of lower emission plug-in hybrid vehicles in the fleet, with a focus on as many journeys as possible being delivered in EV mode. This is another step towards our goal of achieving net zero operational emissions by 2030.”

Land Rover’s Range Rover has carved a unique niche since its debut in 1970. It was the first off-road vehicle to offer a seamless blend of rugged capability and luxurious interiors, pioneering the concept of “refined adventure.” Over the years, the brand has expanded its offerings, with models like the Range Rover Sport catering to drivers seeking a sportier feel.

Interestingly, Land Rover is now part of the Tata Motors family, an Indian auto manufacturing giant. This has led to some Range Rover models being manufactured in India, showcasing the brand’s global reach.

While Range Rover handles ground transportation, Emirates, a UAE-based airline company, has recently secured a multi-year deal as Wimbledon’s official airline partner. This creates a well-rounded partnership catering to the transportation needs on and off the court.

The prestigious tournament will be played between July 1 – 14, 2024, at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, promising another exciting fortnight of world-class tennis.
