Rahul Dravid set to be India’s new head coach: Reports

Dravid will be taking the mantle from Ravi Shastri following the T20 World Cup in the UAE.

The legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid, who refused the post of head coach of the team earlier has made his mind to take up the position. The meeting, which took place in the UAE between Dravid and BCCI officials went well on Thursday. The interview and application process will be a formality if everything goes well.

We will be bringing out the advertisements for the head coach very soon. I think we have been able to convince Rahul that he should now move forward to work actively with the Indian national team,” a BCCI official said.

If Dravid agrees with the proposal, he will be taking the mantle from Ravi Shastri following the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He will be appointed as the head coach for the upcoming two years.

The former Indian captain has been one of the greatest players of all time. For the past six years, he was been handling the U-19 and India A set-up. The 48-year-old has trained a lot of players such as Avesh Khan, Rishabh Pant, Hanuma Vihari, Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw.

Dravid is currently the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Following the T20 World Cup in October, India will be participating in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, 2023 ODI World Cup and World Test Championship (2021-2023).
