Qatar Airways, a pioneer in aviation innovation, has announced a game-changing partnership with IMG, a global leader in sports marketing, to introduce Sport 24, a cutting-edge live sports streaming service, exclusively available on the airline’s growing fleet of Starlink-connected aircraft.
This groundbreaking initiative has positioned Qatar Airways as the first global airline to offer such an integrated and high-definition live sports experience, powered by Starlink’s unparalleled internet connectivity.
Starting today, passengers on Qatar Airways’ Starlink-equipped flights can effortlessly tune into IMG’s premium live sports channels, Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra, directly on their personal electronic devices. A simple QR code scan onboard grants immediate access to a dedicated web player, ensuring travellers never miss a beat of the world’s most significant sporting events, even at 35,000 feet.
This summer promises an action-packed lineup for sports enthusiasts, including the UEFA Champions League, Formula 1, FIFA Club World Cup 2025, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, Wimbledon Championships, and the British Open, among other highly anticipated events. These channels are meticulously produced at IMG’s state-of-the-art London studios, guaranteeing top-tier broadcast quality.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer highlighted the significance of this collaboration and said, “Our partnership with IMG marks another leap forward in redefining the inflight experience. As the first global airline to introduce Starlink’s high-speed connectivity combined with live sports streaming, we are proud to bring passengers closer to the sporting moments that matter most – wherever they are in the world. From football fans to tennis enthusiasts, this new offering ensures our guests never miss a second of the action at 35,000 feet.”
IMG President, Adam Kelly, added, “Live sport is one of the last remaining appointment-to-view events that people prefer to watch in real time. As consumer viewing habits continue to evolve, passengers want more ways to enjoy live sports onboard so they never have to miss a moment of the action. Qatar Airways is now making that a reality for fans travelling anywhere in the world with Sport 24. We’re continuing to drive product developments to make Sport 24 available on any international aircraft with connectivity.”
This revolutionary service is made possible by Qatar Airways’ swift integration of Starlink’s ultra-fast, low-latency internet. The airline made aviation history in October 2024 by operating the world’s first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 aircraft. As of June 2025, Qatar Airways has successfully equipped its entire Boeing 777-300ER fleet with Starlink, having completed over 12,000 Starlink-connected flights. The airline is also on track to introduce Starlink across its Airbus A350 fleet from Summer 2025, with an ambitious goal to have Starlink installed on over 100 aircraft across its entire fleet by 2026.
Qatar Airways currently holds the distinction of being the largest global airline, and the first and only in the MENA region, to provide Starlink’s high-speed internet onboard. This complimentary service, offering speeds up to 500 megabits per second, empowers passengers to stream, game, and work seamlessly from gate to gate.
This collaboration underscores Qatar Airways’ unwavering commitment to continuous innovation and delivering an unparalleled passenger experience, bringing the excitement of live sports directly to the skies.
