PUMA embarks on long-term ties with Portuguese Football Federation

Starting in 2025, the Portuguese national soccer, futsal, beach soccer, and esports teams will now have PUMA as their technical partner.

The global sports giant, PUMA has developed a new long-term partnership with the governing body of football in Portugal, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).

Starting in 2025, the Portuguese national soccer, futsal, beach soccer, and esports teams will now have the clothing brand as their technical partner.

According to PUMA, the alliance has a creative approach, and new goods will be unveiled in early 2025. Furthermore, this new alliance comes after Portugal’s long-standing 27-year contract with PUMA’s competitor, Nike, which was last renewed (until 2024) in October 2017.

Arne Freundt, Chief Executive of PUMA, said, “Partnering with a top national team was one of our football priorities and I am thrilled to have such a popular team as Portugal join the Puma family. Given the huge fan base of the national team around the world and the great potential of the new generation of players, we are looking forward to the upcoming major tournaments, such as the 2026 World Cup.”

President of the FPF, Fernando Gomes, said, “We are thrilled with the way PUMA engages with fans and tells the story of each team they represent. We are excited to develop an exciting range of products that will appeal to our large fan base and supporters around the world.”

Portugal, which captured the men’s UEFA European Championship in 2016 and the 2018-19 Nations League, also has the most significant number of social media followers of any football federation.

PUMA, established in 1948, is a global leader in sportswear and footwear, noted for its revolutionary innovations and trendsetting designs. The brand assists athletes in reaching their full potential by providing groundbreaking performance gear. In India, PUMA is devoted to cricket, partnering with notable players such as  Virat KohliMohammed ShamiRiyan Parag and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Around the globe too, the brand has comparable partnerships with renowned teams such as Aston Martin Aramco F1, Palmeiras, Southampton FC, RB Leipzig, New Zealand Football, and more.
