The global sportswear giant, PUMA has appointed Dominique Gathier as the new Vice President of its Teamsport business unit.
Gathier follows Matthias Bäumer, who became PUMA’s Chief Commercial Officer earlier this year. He will be reporting directly to Maria Valdes, PUMA’s Chief Product Officer.
Dominique Gathier, a dual national of France and Germany, offers 19 years of PUMA experience to the post. Throughout his employment, he has held several key positions in the marketing and product development departments. His most recent post was Senior Director of Product Line Management for Teamsport Footwear and Equipment, where he oversaw the effective creation and launch of PUMA’s well-known football boot franchises, FUTURE, ULTRA, and KING. Gathier earned a management degree from Kedge Business School in Bordeaux, France.
Maria Valdes, Chief Product Officer at PUMA, said, “With Dominique, we have appointed an experienced leader for our Teamsport business unit, who has played a crucial role in launching some our most successful performance products. I am confident that Dominique will continue to build on PUMA’s strong momentum in Teamsport and introduce exciting new products that will resonate with athletes at all levels, teams and fans around the world.”
The 45-year-old’s new leadership job will include overseeing the whole product team under the Teamsport business unit. His primary focus will be on ensuring the successful creation and strategic execution of product plans, as well as cultivating strong collaborative ties with PUMA’s broad network of external partners, which includes sports clubs and federations worldwide.
PUMA’s Teamsport business segment is an important part of the corporation, producing and selling a diverse range of footwear, apparel, and accessories for major global sports like football, as well as locally relevant sports like handball, rugby, and cricket. Gathier’s appointment is intended to boost PUMA’s position and drive innovation in this critical section of the sports market.
