Pulisic signs a new long-term deal with Puma

Chelsea star Pulisic to end the deal with Nike and work with the German brand to grow in the US.

The youngest ever US national team captain Christian Pulisic, who plays as a midfielder for the London club Chelsea will become one of the major faces of Puma’s Ultra range and sport a pair of customized boots for the first time during this week’s clash against Villareal in the super cup final on 11th August.

Pulisic has taken the responsibility to grow the brand in the US using various programs and opportunities, including establishing camps and clinics, rehabilitating playing fields, and donating products for underserved youth.

The UK’s Daily Mail newspaper has described it as a ‘record-breaking’ boot deal, although the financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed yet.

The 22-year-old American has been widely regarded as one of the best marketable players in recent years thanks to his recognition in the US, he has endorsement deals with Gatorade, Chipotle, Panini, and Hershey’s, among others.

While switching from Nike to Puma, Pulisic commented that it was a “no-brainer” to join Puma. “Anyone who loves soccer should be able to play,” he added. “We have a platform in sports and if something is truly meaningful, you can help to open people’s eyes and make changes. What I love about Puma is they share my passion and my goal to support youth soccer in America and to help the next generation to chase their dreams.”

In recent years, Puma has shown a heavy rise in the market, thanks to their roster of soccer stars which include recently signed Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. and also a few other superstars like Sergio Aguero, Antoine Griezmann, and Marco Reus.

The 2020/21 season of the Premier League is about to start from August 14 and the first fixture will be played between Brentford and Arsenal at the Brentford Community Stadium at 12:30 AM IST. Chelsea will be playing its first game of the season on Saturday against Crystal Palace at 7:30 PM IST.
