PSL 7 gathers massive viewership

Only 76% of the Pakistani population have access to television out of which, 73% of people viewed the country's domestic T20 league.

The intriguing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 finally came to an end with Lahore Qalandars emerging victorious in the final on February 27, Sunday. PSL 7 was reportedly watched by 144 million people on television in Pakistan.

Only 76% of the Pakistani population have access to television out of which, 73% of people viewed the country’s domestic T20 league.

Ramiz Raja, the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman unveiled that next year, the PSL fixtures will take place in Peshawar and other cities of the country.

PSL 7 profits jumped to 71 per cent, the most in its history, with each franchise earning around PKR900million, again the most in PSL’s history, and all before the first ball was even bowled,” Ramiz stated.

Fawad Chaudhry, the information minister praised the state-run PTV Sports for comprehensive HD coverage of the competition. He said, “It was first HD transmission for PTV Sports.”

In the PSL 7 final, Lahore Qalandars faced Multan Sultans. The Shaheen Afridi-led team set up a competitive total of 180. Mohammad Rizwan and his men fell short of the target by 42 runs.
