PSL 2021: Sky247.net joins as sponsor for remaining games

Ahead of the resumption of PSL 2021, Sky247.Net was announced as the Official sponsors for the remainder of the tournament returns. The remaining 20 matches of PSL 2021 will be played in Abu Dhabi between June 1-June 20.

The deal with PSL is another big step for Sky247 as part of the marketing strategy, which includes other recent sponsorships of Abu Dhabi T10, Abu Dhabi ODI Series, Emirates D20, and T20I series of Pakistan vs South Africa.

João Coimbra, Sky247 Marketing Manager said, “Supporting the sports, and cricket in this particular case, is one of our focus for the future! The worldwide scenario is a struggle for all sports events, and this is our way to show that we want to be a part of that supporting structure. We know how important the sponsors are, especially after all the issues we had during the pandemic.”

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had to suspend the tournament in February after there was a COVID-19 outbreak in the bio-bubbles of a few teams. Since the second wave of the pandemic is taking its toll in South Asia, all six franchises wanted PCB to conduct the second half of the tournament in the UAE.

PSL has been previously played in the UAE, but PCB decided to move the tournament to Pakistan after successfully hosting the semi-final and final of the tournament in the past. PCB is going to strict protocols in UAE as they recently suspended Naseem Shah from the tournament for a breach in covid guidelines. PCB will be hoping that the second half of PSL 2021 takes place smoothly in UAE.

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) will also be keenly watching how the remaining PSL unfolds as they are also looking to conduct the remainder of IPL 2021 in UAE. However, the announcement will be made on May 29 after a Special General Meeting. The decision of conducting the t-20 world cup is also left hanging and the talks regarding it are on standby. It will be interesting to see how things unfold.
