PSL 2021 set to resume on June 9

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the second phase of PSL 2021 will begin on June 9 and end by June 24. The second half of PSL 2021 will be held in Abu Dhabi. It was previously reported that games will begin on June 5, but logistical issues were going to delay the event.

Earlier, PSL 2021 was suspended in March due to numerous covid cases in the bio-bubbles of teams in the tournament.  The first half of PSL 2021 was hosted by Pakistan, but due to the second wave of covid-19, the resumption will take place in UAE.

As per the schedule of the remaining games of PSL 2021, games will begin from 9 PM Pakistan Time (PKT). However, on double-headers, to avoid the high temperature and heat in Abu Dhabi, the first match will begin from 6 PM PKT and the second fixture will begin from 9 PM PKT.

Teams have started training in UAE to begin preparations for the remaining games. Some of the technical crew and playing staff still under quarantine. Pakistan has faced the same share of struggles as BCCI has suffered as due to the flight ban, many player’s visas didn’t arrive on time which led to a delay for joining the training camps. Along with this logistical nightmare, Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and other players weren’t allowed to enter Abu Dhabi via commercial plane due to visa issues. Eventually, the problem regarding visa was sorted and players started the isolation period before joining the tame in training.

As of now, Karachi Kings is at the top of the table in PSL 2021 with six points. Peshawar Zalmi is level points with Karachi Kings, but they remain second due to an inferior net run rate. Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators are at the bottom of the table with two points. Gladiators will need a strong second half of the season to move up the table.
