PSL 2021 final set to take place on June 24

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the franchise owners held a remote meeting to confirm that the final of PSL 2021 on June 24 instead of the previous date June 20. After the final, the Pakistan cricket team will depart for England on June 25. They were previously planned to leave for England on June 23 ahead of the while ball series in July. PCB and franchise owners also reportedly discussed the progress being made regarding the preparations of PSL 2021 in the UAE.

With the change in schedule for the team’s departure for England, the number of double-headers will be three if PSL 2021 resumes on June 7. The franchises also got an update on 16 production company crew, who are now isolating in Dubai after being allowed entry in Abu Dhabi last week. It was also made known that NCEMA will decide on Wednesday afternoon if they will grant exemptions to 16 production crew to work in Abu Dhabi from June 5 to make sure that the tournament resumes on June 7.

PCB will continue to engage with the Abu Dhabi government to make sure that the tournament is smoothly conducted without any further obstacles. The cricket boards had to face a major setback after around a dozen of participants were sent back home because the UAE government is yet to clear their visas.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had to suspend the tournament in February after there was a COVID-19 outbreak in the bio-bubbles of a few teams. Since the second wave of the pandemic is taking its toll in South Asia, all six franchises wanted PCB to conduct the second half of the tournament in the UAE. After the conclusion of PSL 2021, the Pakistan cricket team will be going on a month-long tour of England where they will play three One Day Internationals and three T-20 internationals starting from July 8.
