PSG witness an exponential growth in revenue

Messi has had a significant financial influence on PSG.

The Ligue 1 outfit, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) witnessed an increase in sponsorship revenue by at least €300 million in the 2021-2022 season. Part of this is due to increased sponsorships, which grew by 13% because of new deals with GOAT (50 million euros for the season), Crypto.com, and Gorillas, which will yield an extra 10 million euros.

Many expected the Parisians to finally win UEFA Champions League after signing Lionel Messi from Barcelona last summer, but that didn’t happen. Although the commercial benefits of his signing contributed to the growth in income. Messi has had a significant financial influence on PSG, with the club selling over one million shirts, 60% of which included Messi’s number 30 and name.

Ticket sales at the Parc des Princes also had a significant surge as many viewers wished to see ‘La Pulga’ play for PSG live in the stadium.

“The arrival of Messi has acted as an accelerator for several ongoing negotiations and has made it possible to further increase our brand value, whose attractiveness we have already observed for several years with the signing of ALL [Accor Live Limitless] and the long-term renewal of Nike. The club will certainly break its historic record for sponsorship revenue,” said, Armstrong, Marketing Director at PSG.

Total income is expected to exceed €700 million by the end of the 2021-2022 campaign, putting it on par with European titans Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Messi played 33 games so far for PSG and scored 11 goals and contributed 13 assists.
