Pro Kabaddi League set to return in December

The Salary Purse for all the 12 teams this season would be INR 4.4 Crores.

The Vivo Pro Kabaddi League is set to return nearly after a gap of two years with the Season 8 player auction set to be held between 29th to 31st August. The auction would see a total of 12 teams battling it out under the hammer to get their squads ready.

Before the auction begins, all the teams would be allowed to retain up to six players under the Elite Retained Players category and up to six New Young Players (NYPs) under stipulated conditions. The auction would see a massive 500+ player pool divided into four categories; A, B, C, and D and subdivided as ‘All-Rounders’, ‘Defenders’ and ‘Raiders’.

The Salary Purse for all the 12 teams this season would be INR 4.4 Crores. The base price for each category are as follows: Category A – INR 30 Lakhs, Category B – INR 20 Lakhs, Category C – INR 10 Lakhs, and Category D – INR 6 Lakhs.

Anupam Goswami, chief executive of Mashal Sports and PKL league commissioner, said, “We are excited about the return of PKL after two long years as it is home to top-quality kabaddi for fans in India and the world.”

There is immense excitement among players as we get ready for the player auctions for Season eight. We are sure to find more heroes through the upcoming auctions as we have in the last several seasons.

He further added that the league would be conducted under strict government rules and safety protocols with the national kabaddi ecosystem.
