Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR), an annual semi-professional women’s rugby union club competition, has inked a new long-term association with Gilbert, a British sports equipment manufacturing brand.
The arrangement calls for Gilber to provide the league with its market-leading rugby balls.
The all-new PWR Gilbert ball will be featured for the first time in the PWR Up Series in September and will continue to be employed across the Premiership Women’s Rugby season, culminating in the Final on March 16. Gilbert will also provide the equipment for the event’s match officials.
Belinda Moore, PWR Chief Executive, said, “Today’s announcement marks the continuation of a long-standing and strong relationship between Gilbert and the women’s game in England, to kick off our second season. Gilbert Rugby are worldwide leaders in rugby ball technology, innovation and quality and are the perfect fit for our League. I know our Clubs are looking forward to getting their hands on the new season balls over the next few weeks.”
Gilbert’s unwavering support for rugby throughout the world has led them to collaborate with World Rugby initiatives for growth and supply the market-leading Gilbert match ball to the Top 20 World Rugby-rated men’s and Top 10 women’s teams for the first time.
To commemorate the announcement, Gilbert has agreed to a fantastic pre-season money-off promotion for PWR supporters. Anyone who purchases the PWR Supporter or Replica Ball using the link provided on the official website can receive 20% off Gilbert’s women’s collection.
Gilbert Rugby Commercial CEO, Richard Gray, said, “It’s an honour to have been chosen as the official ball for Premiership Women’s Rugby – the world’s leading women’s club rugby competition – to further enhance our commitment to supporting and growing the women’s game. The upcoming season will see the best players in the women’s game battle it out in what promises to be another thrilling competition, heading into the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in England, so it is only fitting that they will be using the leading balls in world rugby.”
