PIF announces major investment in Ladies European Tour to boost women’s golf

The Aramco Team Series events have been renamed as the PIF Global Series, and they will be held in five nations across three continents in 2025.

The sporting investments fund of Saudi Arabia, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) has made a major investment in the Ladies European Tour (LET) to become the title sponsor of five women’s golf events.

The Aramco Team Series events have been renamed as the PIF Global Series, and they will be held in five nations across three continents in 2025. The tournaments’ prize payouts will also be doubled from $1 million to $2 million.

The announcement follows the $5 million prize money for the PIF Saudi Ladies International in February, when Jeeno Thitikul won $675,000 for her efforts. The event will continue through the 2026 season.

The PIF Global Series consists of five events: PIF Saudi Ladies International at Riyadh Golf Club in Riyadh (Feb. 12-15), Aramco Korea Championship at New Korea Country Club in Seoul, South Korea (Friday to Sunday), PIF Championship at Centurion Club in London (Aug. 8-10), Aramco Houston Championship at TBC in Houston (Sept. 5-7), and Aramco Shenzhen Championship at Mission Hills in Shenzhen, China (Nov. 6-8). The cumulative prize fund for all five tournaments will be $13 million.

Each of the revised LET tournaments, including the PIF-backed LIV Golf League, will include simultaneous team and individual competitions. Captains will be chosen and teams draughted based on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

Golf Saudi ambassador Charley Hull, who is ranked 14th in the world, said, “The new PIF Global Series is another huge moment for the LET, as it continues to grow and offer more opportunities for players to play and win in amazing events around the world. Golf Saudi and PIF have proven to be real game changers for women’s golf, once again backing up their commitment to creating equal opportunities and raising the bar for the players. I love playing either as an individual or in a team, so I can’t wait to tee it up at series events throughout the year and hopefully inspire more and more young people into golf around the world.”

In addition to LIV and the LET, PIF has lately made substantial investments in the ATP and WTA tennis circuits, including becoming the naming partner for both organisations’ ranking systems.
