Phoenix Suns renew sponsorship ties with PayPal

PayPal prolongs to be the Suns' official payment partner.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) team, Phoenix Suns have announced a newly extended sponsorship agreement with the global payment service, PayPal.

PayPal will continue to have its logo displayed on the Suns’ jerseys, which NBA players Devin Booker and Kevin Durant adorn, under a contract that will last until the conclusion of the 2025–2026 NBA season.

Both organisations will intensify their efforts to promote local small businesses in Phoenix as part of the new extension, and they will also take advantage of fresh chances to improve the fan experience by implementing cutting-edge payment methods in the Footprint Centre.

One of the first agreements made by Mat Ishbia, who recently acquired the Suns for more than $4.2 billion, making it one of the most costly NBA purchases ever, is the extension of PayPal.

Ishbia commented on the extension, “We are incredibly excited about this new partnership with PayPal. From day one I’ve said the Suns are focused on winning, fan experience, and community impact. This deal delivers on all three. Together with Dan Schulman and the PayPal team, we are going to make a real investment in the community and proudly wear their name as we continue building a world-class organisation on and off the floor.”

PayPal remains the Suns’ official payment partner, and it will use its payment technology to connect it throughout all payment channels of Phoenix’s business, including gameday and season tickets, retail, and events hosted at the Footprint Centre.

In addition to being branded on the Suns’ jerseys, PayPal and Venmo logos will also be visible at the NBA team’s home arena.

According to PayPal, the new collaboration between the two institutions will attempt to assist and support fans and businesses in Phoenix via a variety of programmes and projects.

Dan Schulman, President and CEO, PayPal, said, “In 2018, PayPal and the Phoenix Suns came together to form a partnership with the common goal of enhancing the fan experience on and off the court. Together we have put PayPal at the centre of the customer experience when buying merchandise, tickets and more in the arena, online or via the Phoenix Suns app. Under the new leadership of Mat Ishbia and the management team he has put in place, we see a deep commitment to our shared values. The Suns organisation has built a world-class team. PayPal is thrilled to be part of the Suns’ journey, as they contend for an NBA championship this year and in the years to come.”
