PGA TOUR announces new plan with ESPN+

A total of 3,200 added hours of LIVE streaming will be available for a total of more than 4,300 exclusive hours.

PGA TOUR has announced a new plan for the coverage of the inaugural season of the PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+. The new extended and expanded coverage will have more than triple the total coverage, which usually takes place.

In numbers, a total of 3,200 added hours of LIVE streaming will be available for a total of more than 4,300 exclusive hours. For the 17.1 million subscribers of ESPN+, this is gigantic news as all the PGA TOUR LIVE will get broadcast on the network.

PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+ will feature LIVE coverage of a total of 35 tournaments from 2022 onwards. In January, the TOUR’s Hawaii event till the FedExCup Playoffs with a minimum of 28 events having four full days of coverage and four simultaneous LIVE feeds each day.

The president of the programming and original entertainment, ESPN, Burke Magnus was excited to unveil this news for the fans as they will get to watch the best golfers in the world right from the start of the PGA TOUR in 2022.

“The new and expanded PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+ is an incredible offering for golf fans – with more than three times the coverage from last season, while also bringing them access to thousands of other sporting events and original programming, all for $6.99 per month,” Magnus said.

The launch of PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+ welcomes the new streaming feeds that will bring a total of more than 4,300 exclusive hours of expanded coverage of events throughout the year.

Once the broadcasting on television begins, there will be four streams that will spindle to two featured groups and two featured holes so fans can continue to enjoy the PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+ in addition to the telecast.

There will be more content available to our fans than ever before with an exciting and diverse group of on-air talent delivering the action.”

There will be added crew along with 16 cameras on the course, and a 15-person talent team calling the action across the four channels.

PGA TOUR Vice President and Executive Producer Greg Hopfe, said, “Four separately produced streams will showcase more action than ever before from top players and fan-favourite holes at each tournament. We look forward to being able to share nearly every shot from golf fans’ favourite players on ESPN+.”

This new plan will be a part of TOUR’s new nine-year domestic media rights portfolio, which was announced back in March 2020.
