PFL, DAZN ink a new agreement

PFL is the world's second-largest mixed martial arts organization, with 25% of its fighters listed among the top-25 in the world.

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) and DAZN Group have inked an exclusive broadcast agreement for the PFL Regular Season, Playoffs, and World Championship in 2022. In Japan and Spain, DAZN will be the sole broadcaster of the PFL.

PFL is the world’s second-largest mixed martial arts organization, with 25% of its fighters listed among the top-25 in the world. PFL is a league with a genuine sports-season framework, in which elite fighters compete in a regular season, playoffs, and championship. The top four participants in each division who score the most points during the regular season proceed to the win-or-go-home playoffs, which are followed by the PFL World Championship, where the champion takes home a $1 million reward.

On the DAZN SVoD streaming platform, PFL live events, including international qualifier series contests, as well as original programs and content, will be available to fans in Japan and Spain. This move toward Japan and Spain was mainly initiated after the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced its ‘ROAD TO UFC’ series for Asian MMA prospects and fans; PFL certainly is proving itself to be a big rival for the UFC. Athletic Sports Group and its subsidiary Fight Globe were the driving forces behind the collaboration.

“The Professional Fighters League is thrilled to announce our broadcast partnership with DAZN to carry coverage of the upcoming 2022 PFL Regular Season, Playoffs and PFL World Championship,” stated, SVP International, James Frewin. “We are excited by our continued global expansion and look forward to delivering premium MMA content to combat sports fans in Japan and Spain.”

“We’re looking forward to bringing PFL live events and original content to fans in Japan and Spain, exclusively on DAZN. Our live and on-demand sports experience is continuing to gather momentum in Spain, Japan and across the globe, transforming how fans enjoy sport,” said, Tom Burrows, EVP Rights, DAZN Group.
