Mahindra, India’s homegrown automotive company has presented the keys of the first specially customised Javelin Gold Edition XUV700 to Paralympian Sumit Antil, who made India proud at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
Sumit Antil covered himself in glory when he bagged gold for India in the F64 Men’s Javelin throw category. Pratap Bose, EVP and Chief Design Officer, Mahindra & Mahindra, designed the custom-made XUV700.
Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra made an announcement that the organization will be presenting a special edition of Mahindra XUV700 SUVs to Avani Lekhara, Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil, for their iconic victory at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, respectively.
The Javelin Gold edition has the chrome elements on the exterior of the XUV700 that have been replaced by gold inserts, including the new Mahindra logo, which now carries Satin Gold plating. Moreover, Sunil Antil’s record of 68.55 metres has been embossed as a badge on the fender and tailgate. In addition to that, all seats and the IP panel on the custom-made Mahindra XUV700 have been stitched with fine gold thread as accents.
In an announcement, the company revealed that it will commence the deliveries of the petrol variants from October 30, while the deliveries of diesel models will start from the last week of November 2021. Mahindra has planned to deliver more than 14000 units of XUV700 by January 14, 2022.
The Mahindra XUV features a 2.0-litre Turbo GDi Stallion petrol engine that generates 195 hp at 5000 rpm and 380 Nm torque. The XUV700 starts from Rs 11.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 22.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).
