This collaboration builds on Extreme Networks’ track record in sports and entertainment, aiming to improve connectivity, data insights, and in-venue services for NHL fans.

Several NHL teams, including Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Nashville Predators, have integrated Extreme’s network solutions to transform their arenas. This includes:

  • Enhanced In-Arena Wi-Fi: Enhanced connectivity enables fans to quickly download tickets, access live game stats, share experiences on social media, and make cashless payments seamlessly.
  • Immersive Fan Experiences: Using Wi-Fi analytics, teams can gain insights into fan behaviour and preferences, allowing for personalised and engaging experiences.
  • Foundation for Future Digital Services: The advanced network creates opportunities for new digital offerings, enhancing future fan interactions.

Commenting on the occasion, Darren Shelton, Vice President of Real Estate Technology at Ocvibe, the entertainment hub that contains the Honda Center, (home of Anaheim Ducks), said, “The guest experience at Ocvibe begins the moment they arrive, with Honda Center leading as the first venue connected to Extreme Networks.

“Extreme’s advanced network empowers us to create personalized, responsive experiences that enhance guest satisfaction while optimizing operational efficiency.”

Norman Rice, Chief Commercial Officer at Extreme Networks, added, “The NHL has been at the forefront of leaning into wi-fi business insights to ensure that they’re always reimagining and redesigning fan experiences when fans come to the arena.

“Whether it’s understanding foot traffic patterns across the arena, getting data on the efficiency of mobile concessions or getting a better sense of fan preferences, the NHL is operationalizing key Wi-Fi data to continuously improve the gameday experience.

“Extreme plays a pivotal role in the way both fans and professional organizations leverage connectivity to create new and innovative experiences.”
