NFL unveils a pact with NetApp

Per the association, the NFL has named NetApp the official intelligent data infrastructure partner of the competition.

The American professional football league, the National Football League (NFL) has unveiled a partnership with the California-based technology firm, NetApp.

Per the association, the NFL has named NetApp the official intelligent data infrastructure partner of the competition. In addition, NetApp will be activated throughout the slate of the NFL’s 2025 International Games as the 2025 NFL London Games’ presenting sponsor.

NetApp will also assist the NFL in developing its storage technology, with data security being its focal point.

Gary Brantley, Chief Information Officer at the NFL, said, “Working with NetApp has helped us serve football fans worldwide by streamlining our technology operations and enabling us to be better custodians of our sport.

“With an intelligent data infrastructure powered by NetApp technology, we have a secure data storage strategy that can carry us into the future.”

Cesar Cernuda, President at NetApp, added, “The NFL has been a long-standing customer of NetApp, and it is gratifying to see their interest in expanding our relationship.

“By helping the NFL build an intelligent data infrastructure, we are elevating the sport for fans. Bringing intelligence to the league’s data storage allows them to modernize their infrastructure and gives them the tools they need to agilely adapt to the future.”

The newly unveiled association is followed by NetApp’s multi-year deal signing with the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year.

NetApp was established in 1992 and was founded by James Lau, Michael Malcolm, and David Hitz. George Kurian has been the company’s CEO since June 2015. The entity is headquartered in San Jose, California and is listed on Nasdaq. As of 2024, NetApp has 11,800 employees. In data storage, the company offers unified data storage, storage systems, public clouds and storage as a service.
