The National Football League (NFL) team, New York Jets (NYJ) have inked a partnership with the New York area owners and operators association of the fast-food giant, McDonald’s.
As part of the deal, McDonald’s has become the official partner and the official burger of New York Jets. Moreover, the firm will obtain sponsorship inventory throughout the franchise, featuring in-stadium advertising during home games at the MetLife Stadium.
In addition, the fast food behemoth will obtain exposure and assets via the Jets’ social media and digital channels, as well as advertising slots during Jets broadcasts.
The collaboration will begin right away, with McDonald’s activating around the Jets’ ongoing preseason training camp. Additionally, McDonald’s and the Jets will work together to provide discounts and experiences to both parties’ patrons.
Jeff Fernandez, Jets Vice President, Business Development + Ventures, commented, “The Jets are excited to partner with McDonald’s, a global leader in the fast-food industry. This relationship allows Jets fans participate in overall success of the club through fun McDonald’s promotions. We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate on “Sacks for Big Macs” this season and creatively weave McDonald’s into other meaningful fan engagement initiatives.”
Brian Hairston, President of McDonald’s New York Metro’s Owner/Operators Association, said, “We are very proud to partner with the New York Jets to make McDonald’s the official burger of one of the New York Tri-State region’s most beloved teams. As this highly anticipated football season begins, we look forward to bringing our two iconic brands together to provide special offers and experiences to thousands of customers and Jets fans throughout the region.”
According to the Jets, there are around 520 McDonald’s restaurants in the New York metropolitan region. The fast food restaurant brand has a long history of supporting local sports teams; it has previously partnered with the National Hockey League (NHL)’s New York Islanders and the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s Brooklyn Nets for the 2023–24 season.
Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, and the eventual Super Bowl winner Kansas City Chiefs were among the National Football League (NFL) teams that McDonald’s sponsored in 2023.
On September 10, the Jets will kick off their 2024–25 NFL season against the San Francisco 49ers.
