NEROCA FC ropes in Mirabai Chanu as its brand ambassador

Mirabai Chanu's silver medal victory was India's first medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

I-League team NEROCA FC has signed Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu as its brand ambassador. Recently Mirabai Chanu also became the brand ambassador of the FMCG Products company Amway. The athlete has won several laurels in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships.

NEROCA FC (North Eastern Re-Organising Cultural Association) went to Mirabai Chanu’s residence at Imphal to convince her. However, not much persuasion would be needed as Mirabai Chanu herself is a big fan of NEROCA FC.

Mirabai Chanu’s silver medal victory was India’s first medal at the Tokyo Olympics in the women’s 49kg weightlifting competition. Moreover, this was the first time India won a medal on an opening day. Additionally, Mirabai Chanu has also been awarded the Padma Shri Award and the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award by the Government of India in 2018.

“Neroca Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Saikhom Mirabai Chanu @mirabai_chanu as our global ambassador. In a first-of-its-kind association by any I-League football club, the Tokyo Olympic Silver Medallist who is an ardent Neroca FC fan will represent the Orange Brigade,” said NEROCA FC on Instagram.
