NBC witness biggest audience during NFL 2021 season opener

An estimated 26m viewers watched the Bucs winning 31-29 against the Cowboys.

The first match of the 2021 National Football League (NFL) between Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys was the most-watched season opener on NBC in six years.

The match witnessed the Bucs make an excellent comeback at the Raymond James Stadium with an estimated audience of 26 million viewers.

Last year’s season opener was played between Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans and this year’s season opener viewership peaked at 20 per cent as compared to it.

According to various reports, it is estimated that the average per minute digital spectators of 1.6 million across NBC’s Peacock streaming service, the NFL’s platforms, the Bucs and Cowboys online properties, as well as Yahoo’s outlets were also up 64 per cent on last year.

It has also been reported by NBC that the game was indeed the most viewed event on the US TV network as compared to the Super Bowl on 7th February, in which the Bucs defeated the Chiefs 31-9.

Currently, the Eagles have won their first match of the season, leading the NFC East table. NFC West has shown absolute domination in the initial stage with all the teams winning their first matches.

In NFC North, none of the teams have managed to win a single match with the Packers currently at the bottom of the table.

It has been a good commencement of the season for the NFC South with Saints, Buccaneers, and Panthers winning their matches except for the Falcons who faced a devastating defeat against the Eagles.
