NBA inks a multi-year extension with American Express

This deal also includes a new collaboration with the NBA 2K video game series.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has inked an extension with financial services provider American Express.

In the multi-year deal, American Express will continue to be the official card of the NBA, as well as the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the development competition the NBA G League.

This deal also includes a new collaboration with the NBA 2K video game series, which will allow the members of the American Express card to purchase the forthcoming NBA 2K22 title on the 2K store and receive a code for virtual in-game currency.

The ‘Jersey Assurance’ programme by American Express will keep allowing card members to trade or replace their WNBA and NBA jerseys till one year after they were bought if the players change teams through free agency or trade, or change their uniform numbers.

This partnership will also include gear collaborations and exclusive merchandise.

American Express, which is headquartered in New York has teamed up with the NBA since 1995, apart from a break in the partnership between 2005 and 2010. Along with the league, the company is also the official card of the tournament’s Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers.
