The Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Mumbai Indians (MI) have added another new team to their franchise portfolio, MI New York.
Following the acquisition, MI New York will be featured in the first edition of the US-based T20 league, Major League Cricket (MLC), subject to completion of customary due diligence; negotiation, and execution of definitive binding agreements, and receipt of required corporate, regulatory and third-party approvals and compliances.
The Mumbai-based franchise has always played an important role in promoting cricket in different parts of the world. The franchise has already acquired multiple teams – MI Cape Town in SA20, MI Emirates in ILT20, and also Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL).
Mrs. Nita Ambani, Owner of Mumbai Indians, said, “I am thrilled to welcome our New York franchise to the growing MI Family! With our entry into the first cricket league in the US, I hope we are able to establish Mumbai Indians as a global brand of fearless and entertaining cricket! This is another new beginning for MI and I look forward to the exciting journey ahead.”
