The Indian Super League (ISL) team, Mumbai City FC have completed the signing of the LaLiga veteran, Leo Baptistao for the 2022/23 season. The Brazilian plays as a striker or winger.
The football club that represents the city of Mumbai was founded in August 2014, during the inaugural season of the ISL.
Leonardo “Leo” Carrilho Baptistão is a Brazilian footballer who currently plays for Santos FC in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Baptistão made his youth club debut for Associação Atlética Portuguesa (Santos), where he played alongside Neymar. His senior debut came representing Rayo Vallecano in 2011.
During his 15-year-long career, the Brazilian represented some of the glorious football clubs in LaLiga. The list includes Atletico Madrid, Real Betis, Villarreal CF and RCD Espanyol. In his 303 club appearances, he has scored 60 goals, with a season-best of eight goals.
According to Sports Conclave, the player is the most expensive signing in the tournament’s history. The 2022 edition of the ISL will be conducted between October 2022-March 2023.
