Panasonic Life Solutions India, the consumer electronics and electrical equipment company, has signed MS Dhoni, the former India cricket team captain, as the new face of its air conditioner portfolio in India.

The association marks a decisive step in Panasonic’s strategy to scale its presence in the country’s fast-expanding HVAC market ahead of the 2026 cooling season.

Dhoni will lead Panasonic’s full AC communication stack, including product campaigns and digital outreach, as the brand looks to deepen trust, sharpen visibility, and push into high-growth urban and tier-two clusters. The partnership aligns with Panasonic’s commercial ambition to double AC sales by FY27, supported by increased manufacturing capacity and locally driven innovation.

Tadashi Chiba, MD & CEO, Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND), said, “This partnership is an alignment of shared values. For more than 100 years globally, Panasonic has stood for reliability, innovation, and meaningful contribution, values we continue to strengthen in India. Dhoni’s calm leadership and dependable performance reflect this spirit. Dhoni brings more than star presence; he brings momentum and meaningful connection with Indian consumers. Together, we look forward to shaping an iconic chapter in Panasonic’s brand journey in India.”

Mahendra Singh Dhoni added, “For most of us growing up in India, Panasonic was not just seen as a Japanese brand; it became a part of our everyday life. It felt familiar, reliable, and Indian in spirit because it was present in our homes and memories. For me, this association is meaningful because it reflects shared values: trust, reliability, contribution to society, and a constant drive to improve. I am proud to join hands with a brand that continues to innovate while staying true to its foundation of trust.”

Hirokazu Kamoda, Director, HVAC, Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND), shared, “Dhoni inspires confidence- in teams, in audiences, and in families. That emotional connection is invaluable as we further strengthen our presence in India. This partnership also aligns with Panasonic’s long-term growth roadmap for the cooling category, as the company ramps up AC manufacturing capacity and works toward doubling sales by FY27, driven by a stronger brand presence, local innovation, and deeper market penetration.”

The timing of the partnership reflects the momentum in India’s air conditioning sector, where rising temperatures, urbanisation, and shifting lifestyle expectations are driving sustained demand for energy-efficient cooling solutions. Dhoni’s involvement is expected to boost Panasonic’s positioning in the premium and mid-market segments, where trust, longevity, and after-sales assurance are key decision factors.

Dhoni’s influence remains strong on and off the field. The Chennai Super Kings veteran has confirmed he will feature in the 2026 Indian Premier League season, ensuring sustained visibility leading into Panasonic’s summer marketing campaign. His broader endorsement portfolio spans brands across mobility, healthcare, consumer goods, and financial services, reinforcing his reputation as one of India’s most credible and enduring brand ambassadors.

For Panasonic, the partnership sets the stage for a more aggressive phase of category growth. For Dhoni, it adds another association anchored in reliability and mass-market affinity, qualities that continue to define his appeal across India’s consumer landscape.
