Motorola has been appointed the official smartphone partner of the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2025, in a deal that extends the brand’s global sports sponsorship portfolio and strengthens its long-term collaboration with world football’s governing body.

The tournament, taking place in Chile from 27 September to 19 October 2025, will bring together 24 national teams competing across 52 matches. Motorola will activate its partnership through high-impact brand visibility inside stadiums, including LED perimeter boards, big screens and field-level assets. Its devices will also support operational and media functions during the competition, showcasing the role of technology in delivering a seamless tournament experience.

In addition to on-site presence, Motorola plans to leverage the partnership across digital and social platforms, running global fan engagement campaigns aimed at connecting with younger audiences. The strategy will include collaborations with players, content creators and influencers to highlight the stories of emerging football talent and extend the excitement of the event beyond the stadiums.

The agreement forms part of a broader sponsorship programme between FIFA and Lenovo, Motorola’s parent company, that will span multiple flagship competitions, including the FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil.

Commenting on the announcement, Sergio Buniac, President of Motorola, said “The FIFA U-20 World Cup represents the future of football, and we are excited to play a role in amplifying the voices of young athletes while bringing fans closer to the game through our activations and smartphone technology. As the official technology and smartphone partner for the tournament, we hope to make football more accessible and engaging to everyone. We’re excited to continue supporting FIFA as we get ready for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 26.”

FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai added, “We are thrilled to have the support of Motorola for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. This tournament will showcase many of the planet’s brightest young footballers from 24 nations. Through this collaboration, Motorola will help us to take their skills and stories to more people around the globe.”

With the partnership, Motorola becomes the latest global technology brand to embed itself within football’s commercial ecosystem, using the U-20 World Cup as both a showcase for innovation and a springboard toward the sport’s most prestigious upcoming events.
