Mohammedan Sporting unveils Bunker Hill as new investor

Mohammedan Sporting unveiled Bunker Hill as their new investor. After the investment from sports management firm, Sporting is targeting to feature in Indian Super League in a couple of years.

One of the big three of Kolkata Maidan, the 130-year-old Mohammedan Sporting’s first target will be to qualify for the I-League. The five-team I-League qualifiers will begin in Kolkata from October 8. Mohammedan Sporting will begin the qualifying campaign against Garhwal FC.

During the announcement of this investment, Mohammedan Sporting football secretary Dipendu Biswas said, “Our city rivals, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, will play the ISL from this season. Now we can also say that we will also look to play in the top tier ISL within a couple of years.”

Earlier this year, Mohun Bagan was acquired by RP Sanjiv Goenka Group. The club later merged with Atletico de Kolkata to play in ISL.

Arch-rivals East Bengal also got a investor in the form of Shree Cement Limited. Both the clubs will be seen in this season’s ISL that is set to take place in Goa later this year

The Black Panthers also unveiled their home and away jersey. One of the premier clubs of the country, Mohammedan Sporting was qualified for the 2013/14 I-League by being the runners-up in the 2013 I-League second Division but they were again relegated the next season.
