English County side, Middlesex signs the mystery spinner from Afghanistan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman for the upcoming season of the Vitality T20 Blast. The young sensation will return to Lord’s as last year he claimed 7 wickets at an economy of 7.23 for the franchise.
Mujeeb will be available for all of Middlesex’s group matches next year and then during the business end, if the team qualities for the knockouts. Mujeeb has carved himself out a reputation as one of the world’s finest short-format bowlers. The spinner is ranked second-best as per ICC’s MRF rankings for T20 bowlers.
The 19-year-old T20 specialist has played 40 ODIs and 19 T20Is for his national side where he has grabbed 63 and 25 wickets respectively. Over the past three or four seasons, Mujeeb has become a global icon in all the leading T20 leagues. He has featured in more than 120 games for various franchises in leagues like IPL, CPL, BBL, T20 Blast, and BPL.
Head Coach Stuart Law was pleased to retain the services of the No. 2 ranked T20 bowler in world cricket as he said, “It’s great to have Mujeeb Ur Rahman with us again for the Blast. He’s the number 2 ranked bowler in T20 cricket. He brings great variety to our attack. Mujeeb Ur Rahman is expected to play a key role in the Vitality Blast 2021 for Middlesex. In the last season, following his astonishing performances, the franchise made it to the knockout stages before they were crashed out of the league by Nottinghamshire in the quarter-finals. The side would expect a bit more from the spinner this year.
